There is no such thing as a full chicken
There is no such thing as a full chicken. We throw down a pile of feed and the whole flock descends like it's the only meal they will ever see, and somehow ten minutes later they are back, staring us down, asking what's next.
Pasture raising these Freedom Rangers gives them room to roam, scratch, dust bathe, and chase bugs through the grass, but here is the honest truth nobody really talks about. Grass alone does not build a meat bird. They still need real groceries to put on healthy weight, which makes feed by far our biggest cost out here. So we got to thinking. What if the pasture itself was the feed store?
Next season we are planting crops specifically for the flock, things chickens actually thrive on, so they can graze hard and grow fast on food we grew ourselves. Pasture plus homegrown feed is not a small tweak, it changes the whole game. Watch these little gluttons work and tell us they are not the hungriest birds in York County.
